Pam Acton, the first and only executive director of the Community Foundation of Switzerland County Inc., has informed the Foundation’s board of directors of her decision to retire. “After 24 years at the Community Foundation, it’s time to hand the reins over to someone new.” said Pam Acton.
The Foundation has created an Executive Search Committee to begin the process of finding Pam’s successor. They anticipate it will take three to six months to complete the process. President of the board, Phyllis Weaver, stated “Replacing someone with Pam’s experience will be challenging, but at the same time, we are optimistic about finding the next leader that can build on Pam’s many accomplishments.”
When Pam was hired in 1997, the Community Foundation had no assets, no office and a brand new board of directors. Between the board and Pam, they all learned together how to build a community foundation. Today, the Community Foundation has almost $15 million in endowed assets and awards approximately $300,000 to $400,000 in grants and scholarships each year.
The Executive Search Committee will begin their work in the next few weeks. They have stressed the importance of taking their time to find the right person to lead the Community Foundation into its next phase. As soon as a job description and qualifications are developed, they will be shared with the public.
